Behavior Management
My management strategies are very positive and student-centered. I like to motivate students to show me their best behavior in the classroom. This year I will be using a program called Class Dojo. This is a point system displayed on the smartboard throughout the day so that each student can see how his/her day is going. Points can fluctuate during the day as students earn or lose points for different behaviors and work habits. Each student’s points are added to a class point bank, and we will work together to reach a decided point goal. Once a goal is reached, we will decide on a reward and set a new goal!
As a class, the students are also given the opportunity to earn “stones” for good behavior. As the class works as a team to fill the jar with stones, they are cooperatively working toward a class-wide reward. Individual students may be asked to add a stone for exceptional behavior around the school, or I may decide to give the group as a whole some stones for their hard work. This is a great way for students to work together and cheer each other on for good behavior.
